History: The Kola-Class, is named for an Andorian Mountain, and before there was a Steamrunner-Class Frigate with this name, Starfleet attempted to develop higher-speed TWarp, and continued to advanced knowledge (see Peace & Exploration), making a number of classes, a few successful, over forty great, and many mediocre, and easily destroyed by almost any overpowering enemy without upgrades or wingmen.

      The Kola Prototype, (NXP-42518), was tested after construction at San Francisco Fleet Yard in January 31st, 2337, testing improved (Isolinear Core and Phasers) of older systems, routinely building these newer an improved SF Starships, and although it routinely stalled, glitched, nearly caused a wormhole, and the injecters and accelerator flux gergers failed, the class was revised, delay went to construction, then with a shakedown cruiser on February 19th, 2339, the prototype was given an NCC and launched from Starbase 464, near Protostar Shipyards on March 23rd, 2340, and two more were completed on May 18th, and June 23rd, 2340, construction continuing at a rate of 2 per year from SFFY and PS 2341-2359, the Class contnuing with routne refits untl the units (not destroyed) r decommissioned in 2398-2422.
